It is round three of the AMA Motocross championship here in the dirty south; Freestone Raceway in Texas. The day kicked off with the “lites” guys hitting the track. It was the usual suspects out early with the fastest lap times. Villipoto was a second faster than Dungey and Stroupe. From the looks of things Villipoto may have his work cut out for him. It looks it he will have some company out front and will not run away with the race like he did last weekend. PanicRev's boy Sean Borkenhagen made it into the Sunday show for the third week in a row. He was off the pace a bit, but was able to put in a few good laps hanging with a number of the top dogs in the class.
In the 450 class Stewart was on a rail as he was three seconds faster then Shorty. Stewart was the only guy to try jumping this 120-foot double with the smallest lip. He only did it once but knows if he has to pull something out of his sleeve he can. Shorty was also on the gas with fellow Honda pilot Davii Millsaps on his heals. PanicRev supporters Kyle Partridge and Kevin Rookstool had good rides placing 15 th and 19 th in today's timed practice. Finally, Jarred Browne has never been known to be a big practice guy and placed 31 st today. Though 31 st is not a good start to the weekend Browne was looking smooth and has the speed to run up front.
The second round of the WMA is this weekend and moto 1 is in the books. When the gate dropped it was Fiolek and Patterson the whole way. The two of them jumped out of the gate like rocket ships and took off. Those two checked out and hammered on each other for the whole 15 minutes plus 2 laps. The young Fiolek held of the defending champ the whole time, riding a smart race. Fiolek rode mistake free to take the win by a matter of 6 inches. The other race on the track was for third; Sarah Whitmore was holding down third with Mariana Balbi fourth and Tatum Sik fifth. The three riders were so close that you could have thrown a blanket to cover all three of them. Though Whitmore held down the 3 rd spot the whole moto the three hammered on each other for most of the race. Sik was on the gas and was all over Balbi and Whitmore, then things went wrong; do to a blown fork seal she hit the ground pretty hard and banged up her shoulder. Tatum is tough and is going to push through the pain and try to ride the second moto tomorrow.
